Community Goals
Aberdeen has a full-time city manager and aldermanic form of government with 8 elected councilmen and women and a part-time mayor.
The organizations serving the community include The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, Aberdeen Development Corporation, Aberdeen Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Aberdeen Downtown Association. These organizations are separate with independent missions and goals but all have one goal in common, community growth and development. Therefore, they have and will continue to collaborate on community projects, issues, and growth initiatives.
Aberdeen is growing with an increase in population and over 1,000 jobs available at several businesses with a wide array of skill sets required. Due to this growth, Aberdeen is pro-actively focusing on several related issues and have established the following community goals over the next 3-5 years:

Serve as the leading business advocate for the economic health and vitality of our membership and the greater Aberdeen area.
Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Mission:
To increase the amount of visitor activity that occurs in the Aberdeen area.
Aberdeen Development Corporation Mission:
Advance Aberdeen and the Northeast South Dakota Region for all through Business retention, expansion and job growth.
